Why Optical Films?

The main commitment of JX Group has been to provide a reliable supply of fuels, lubricants, and petrochemicals. Recently, as rapid technological innovations have made the needs of society more sophisticated and diverse, we've also been expanding our business into fields such as energy systems and functional materials.

One example of our new materials business is optical films: we develop, manufacture, and market optical films for liquid crystal displays. While it may seem surprising for an oil company to be in the optical film business, it is a natural extension of our basic research on chemical products in general. Through our continuing commitment to meet our customers' needs, we have succeeded in applying our unique technology to create distinctive optical film products.

Optical films are only one component of liquid crystal displays, so consumers who use cell phones and other products made with JX's films are unlikely to know that our products are recognized for their outstanding performance by manufacturers and professional organizations throughout the world. But within the LCD industry, the name JX is becoming widely known and respected.
